Family Law.

Divorce

MHT Law is able to leverage decades of divorce experience to assist you through the complexity of divorce issues in Utah.  Our firm regularly represents clients in all types of divorce actions – annulments, no-contest, fault, and no-fault – as well as supplementary divorce-related litigation, such as separation agreements, spousal support, property divisions, and child support and alimony modifications.  Our attorneys will work closely with you throughout the process, ensuring that your needs are met and that you have regular updates regarding your case.

Custody Disputes

MHT Law vigorously represents parents in custody disputes to ensure that their children receive all of the support they deserve following a divorce. All of our attorneys and staff are parents themselves, and we strive to ensure that the focus remains on the child and his or her needs.

Adoption

The adoption of a child is a complex legal event, and the life-changing nature of such an action needs to be done right the first time. The Utah Code demands exact compliance with nuanced statutes to ensure that the rights and needs of the child and his or her parents are protected. We have helped clients successfully adopt children from both in and out of state, and have the experience necessary to protect both you and the child.

Grandparent Visitation

In Utah, there are specific laws which entitle grandparents, under certain circumstances, to court-approved visitation with their grandchildren, even if the minor children’s parents object. We help assist grandparents who wish to continue their relationship with their grandchildren, and also protect the rights of parents from the overreaching of third parties.

Paternity

When a child is born to unwed parents, it is important for both parties to establish paternity and ensure that the proper support mechanisms are in place to aid the child’s development and upbringing. Our attorneys will help navigate parents through the oft-complex legal procedure which must be strictly followed.

Guardianship

When you need help in protecting and caring for a child or vulnerable adult, it is crucial that a proper guardianship or conservatorship is ordered by the court. Our firm handles all guardianship and conservatorship cases, including abused and neglected children; vulnerable adults; special needs individuals; and both temporary and permanent guardianships.
